etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Installation - 2023 Hyundai Tucson- Video

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the etrailer trailer hitch receiver on a 2023 Hyundai Tucson. Now this is what it's gonna look like when it's installed and you can see that really all you can see is gonna be the receiver tube opening which is nice because you get all the usability but the cross tube is gonna be hidden behind the rear fascia. So it gives it a nice clean OEM look. And something that I really like about the etrailer hitch is the matte black finish. Not only is it a little bit more stealthy underneath the vehicle, but also the finish makes it to where it's a little less easy to scratch. Whereas the other options available of hitches are gonna be a Draw-Tite or a CURT which are gonna install exactly the same. more

Now this is what it's gonna look like when it's installed and it's a great looking hitch because it's a hidden cross tube meaning the only thing that you're really gonna see hanging down from the bottom of your vehicle is going to be the receiver tube opening. This is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed and the great part about it is it's a hidden cross tube. So the only thing that you're gonna see once it is in place is gonna be the business end which is gonna be your receiver opening and your safety chain loops. And the rest of the supports are gonna be hidden behind the rear fascia. Being a 2" x 2" receiver tube opening is gonna be awesome for a bunch of different accessories. Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2021 Hyundai Tucson- Video

Today, we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Curt trailer hitch receiver here on a 2021 Hyundai Tucson. Adding a trailer hitch to your Tucson is going to be an excellent option because it's going to make your vehicle that much more versatile. Now we can obviously use our trailer hitch for towing, but if we wanted to hit the trails or free up some space inside the vehicle for those long car trips we could certainly attach either a hitch mounted bike rack or hitch mounted cargo carrier. So in regards to towing, our trailer hitch here has a class three rating. That's going to provide us with a 3,500 pound gross trailer weight rating. Rob: How's it going, everybody Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite Class II Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver on our 2013 Hyundai Tucson. Now I like the way our hitch looks because the cross tube's going to be hidden behind the bumper, for the most part, and the main thing we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out. It's not going to be this big bar hanging off the bottom of our Tucson, it really is pretty well hidden. Now it is a class II, so it is going to give us that 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening and be great for some bike racks or some of those smaller cargo carriers.The hitch is going to accept a standard 1/2" pin and clip. Now these are not going to come with the hitch, but you can pick them up here separately at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to make sure your accessories are secure and anti-rattle devices to cut down on that annoying rattling sound from the accessory moving inside the receiver tube.Now, if you do plan on doing some towing, there's a few things to keep in mind. Our hitch here is made specifically for a certain drawbar and that is sold separately. more

So here's what it's going to look like once we have it fully installed. It's going to have a really clean appearance to it because that cross tube is going to be completely hidden behind the bumper and all we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out right below the bumper.Since it is a Class Three, it's going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. It's going to have the most variety of accessories that we can mount up, whether you need to carry a couple of bikes with you, we can put a bike rack in there, maybe tow a trailer, throw a ball mount, or if we're using to get some gear outside of our Tucson, we can put a cargo carrier in there and free up some space.Now the way we're going to mount any of our accessories is the hitch pin hole here on the side. It's going to accept a standard five ace pin and clip. Now these are not included with the kit, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices so your accessories can be nice and secure.Now, if you are going to tow a trailer, obviously you need a spot to hook up your safety chains and our connection point's going to be a plate style welded to the bottom of the receiver tube. more

So we use a half inch diameter hitch pin or a locking hitch pin, and also on the plates here for your safety chains, which is more than adequate for small trailers, this is perfect to pull.Couple of other details is that there is a reinforcement around the edge of our hitch right here at the opening. With this brand, that tells you it's always going to be a Class II receiver hitch. more

As you can see the cross bar's hidden beneath the bumper, so you're really only going to be able to see the receiving tube and the safety chain loops. This is a class three two inch by two inch receiver. And, it's going to be great for just about all your needs. From bike racks, cargo carriers, and especially ball mounts for towing.It has a 525 pound tongue weight, which is the force going down on top of the receiver, and a 3,500 pound gross towing capacity, that's how much it can pull behind it. Now, it is not recommended to use a weight distribution system with this hitch.It is recommended by Curt to use a stabilization strap when hauling any non trailer loads. more

This is what our hitch is going to look like when it's installed in the vehicle. As you can see most of it's hidden up behind the bumper, and you can really only see the receiving tube and safety chain loops.It's a class two, one and a quarter inch by one and a quarter inch receiver, so this is going to be great for bike racks, cargo carriers, and for light towing. It has a 350 pound tug rate, which is the force going down on top of the receiver, and a 3500 pound gross towing capacity, which is how much that it can pull behind it.Now, you do want to take your vehicle's owner's manual to ensure that you're not exceeding its towing capacities. Curt also recommends that you use a stabilization strap when hauling any non-trailer loads. This is essentially anything without wheels. more
